Rent the Runway (RTR) is an online shopping website in which ladies can rent dresses, shoes, accessories, etc to wear once and then return them. Brillant right? Because let’s be honest…when’s the last time you pulled out that $1400 dress collecting dust at the back of your closet? RTR allows you to wear a new dress to every event without wasting money. Being totally in love with this novice idea, I was excited to cover RTR’s Houston Debut Party this past Wednesday at Gift.
Gift and CultureMap Houston hosted a party for Rent The Runway’s Director of PR, AJ Nichols and PR Manager Ashley Savage. Sipping on vodka/lemonades and mini crave cupcakes they mingled with guests at the pop-up shop in West Ave new & happening shopping center at Westheimer and Kirby in River Oaks. They have everything from clothing boutiques, restaurants to posh apartments.
The host location, Gift, is owned by Steven Hempel and Michelle Avina (also the owners of PEEL Gallery in Montrose). Steven and his staff set up tables with a variety of unique merchandise for guests to peruse and purchase. Amazing jewelry pieces, paperweights, books, even beef jerky found it’s place at the pop-up shop! Models roamed around the crowd wearing fantastic designer dresses from the RenttheRunway.com collections. The models looked amazing in their cocktail dresses styled with fab clutches. Each one would make for the perfect holiday look!
