If one word could describe the grand opening of Ronda Whiteing’s Micci Marmalade it would be “hot”. No, I don’t mean the temperature, although, thanks to Houston’s tropical-ness, it was way less than cool, I’m talking about everything having to do with this spectacular event and boutique. It felt like a Hollywood affair!
Valet, provided by Clemy’s Valet, graciously whisked everyone’s car away, and the adventure in Micci Marmalade land began. When guests signed in, they were given a complimentary sample of Micci Marmalade’s room spray “Purple Rain” (other sensual scents include “Let’s Go Crazy”, and “Insatiable”…notice a theme, Prince fans?) which boasts fresh scents and fresh, all natural ingredients. Then, up the red carpet they went. Yes, the red carpet! While they waited for the ribbon cutting to commence, they partook in the many delights the event had to offer. They sipped on the signature cocktail of the evening “The Micci”, compliments of BarDivaz, nibbled on the delicious deserts of The Brownie Pan and Something Sweet by Lori, noshed on some yummy eats prepared by Chef Ken, and bounced to the beats of DJ J-Que. Once the ribbon was cut, guests were invited to shop til they dropped – and they did!
The two-story boutique resembles a small, yet intimate, closet. Which is exactly the look and feel owner Ronda Whiteing was aiming for. Every item in the in the boutique was carefully selected by Whiteing herself – from the paint color to the striped pallazo pants. Micci Marmalade is, after all, her alter ego. When asked about the boutique’s concept, she says that she, “wants the women of Houston to look and feel good without having to break the bank.” Clients will most certainly be able to do just that. Every item I had my peepers on were all under $80!
Micci Marmalade is a place where, according to Whiteing, Rodeo Drive (five star service) meets Houston, TX (stylish, yet affordable). You can expect to find anything you may need to get you ready for the gym (yoga wear also available), the dancefloor, the boardroom, or the bedroom (they have lingerie, too!).
